Critical mass
10/22/2024 7:30 PM “Critical Mass” is a show in which a critical mass of performers hang from the ceiling and maintain a “critical mass” for dinner that everyone is interested in touching but also wants to get rid of.
Through the themes of flying, hovering, freeing oneself from gravity, the performance explores the connections between freedom and risk, the personal and the communal, the small conflicts of everyday life with the need to fit in, to belong, to give and to take.
The team for the presentation in Varna includes director and performer – Silvia Cherneva, performer – Danny Kearns and live musician – Dimitar Gorchakov. In the tradition of the show, it continues to evolve its form, but at its core its question remains the same: how can we turn lonely weightless hovering into shared flight?
During the performance the audience is free to walk around the installation to try out different perspectives on what is happening. As part of the post-performance programme, the team invites the audience to explore the installation for themselves and to hang, swing and play with the ropes.
