In the workshop, led by Elena Marinova, we will dive into the principles of Labanotation (Movement Notation System). We will try to dive into the limitless possibilities of developing movement material, provoked by simple choices that, too “logical”, remain unexplored in our dance bodies.

Labanotation is a system for analyzing and recording human movement. It was developed by the Austro-Hungarian choreographer and dancer Rudolf von Laban. He created this notation system in the 1920s to provide a structured means of documenting and studying different movements, facilitating the communication of dance and movement in different contexts.

Elena Marinova (Bulgaria/Netherlands) is an independent performer, choreographer and dance artist. She graduated from the Laban Conservatoire of Dance and Music in London in 2023. Over the years she has developed her work as artistic director of Dance Frame Collective and Head Under Water Dance Company.
